Exciting New Hotel Development on the Horizon for Daphne
Daphne residents, get ready for some exciting changes coming to our city! The Daphne City Council recently gave the green light for a fantastic new hotel project that promises to elevate our local hospitality scene. As reported by Baybusinessnews, the council unanimously approved an $8 million economic incentive to help bring Hotel Fortuna to life.
The ambitious plan comes from 68 Ventures, which is poised to invest a whopping $35 million to create a chic boutique hotel paired with a five-star dining experience. This new establishment will feature 68 luxurious rooms, making it the perfect getaway for both business travelers and locals looking for a special staycation.
Situated right on Daphne Avenue, across from the post office and next to Lott Park, Hotel Fortuna will not only enhance our landscape but also our community spirit. The hotel will boast an impressive 4,500 square-foot restaurant, a cozy courtyard, and even fire pits for those perfect evenings under the stars. Plus, it will have a barn-style venue space that will be ideal for hosting memorable events such as weddings and graduations.
To support this endeavor, 68 Ventures will receive 75% of the new property, sales, and lodging taxes generated by the hotel for the next 25 years, capped at $8 million. This means that while the hotel develops, Daphne will still benefit from a portion of the revenue, helping to bolster our local economy.
In addition to this exciting hotel project, Daphne has also secured $5 million in federal funding through the office of U.S. Senator Katie Britt, which will go towards much-needed infrastructure improvements in Olde Towne Daphne, the future home of Hotel Fortuna. The goal is to break ground by early 2027, with construction expected to wrap up within 18 to 24 months, bringing new jobs and opportunities to our community.
So, mark your calendars and stay tuned—Daphne is on the brink of a wonderful transformation!
